In addition to SYSKRON, another development partner, Rapidminer GmbH, is participating in the project, offering software for datascience platforms. Further participants and at the same time application partners are the Bitburger Brauereigruppe, which is subject to the consortium leadership, Augustiner Bräu München, and the RIF Institut für Forschung und Transfer e.V. As a research institute, the association is working on an introduction system, the topic area of competence development, and the conception of a reference architecture. Together, the partners are researching various approaches and applications of data-driven process optimization using machine learning in the beverage industry.
The motivation for the project is to find an answer to the missing approaches in the area of machine learning. With the development of a reference architecture for the beverage industry, not only digitization and process optimization should be advanced, but also an increase in competitiveness and energy and resource efficiency by machine learning should be made more accessible.
The second milestone meeting took place in May 2020, at which the concept of the reference architecture was approved. In the meantime, work has been carried out in tandem on so-called use cases, for example on the optimisation of the malt yield or on the analysis and prognosis of filler-relevant malfunctions, on which SYSKRON is currently working with an application partner.
The third and probably last milestone meeting will take place in 2021, when the use cases have been completed. The goal of this meeting will be to put demonstrators into operation.
