The research and development project "Data-driven process optimization with the help of machine learning in the beverage industry", DaPro for short, is now entering its second year of research - the project, which was funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy, is scheduled to run for 3 years. In addition to SYSKRON, another development partner, Rapidminer GmbH, which offers software for data science platforms, is participating. Further participants are the breweries and at the same time application partners Bitburger and Augustiner as well as the RIF Institute for Research and Transfer, which is responsible for the transfer of research results between economy and science.
The motivation for the project was to find an answer to the lack of solutions in the area of machine learning. With the development of an IoT reference architecture for the beverage industry, not only digitalisation and process optimization should be pushed forward, but also competitiveness, energy and resource efficiency should be increased.
The second milestone meeting took place in May 2020, at which the concept of the reference architecture was approved. In the meantime, work has been carried out in tandem on so-called use cases, for example on the optimisation of the malt yield or on the analysis and prognosis of filler-relevant malfunctions, on which SYSKRON is currently working with an application partner.
The third and probably last milestone meeting will take place in 2021, when the use cases have been completed. The goal of this meeting will be to put demonstrators into operation.
