with Markus

How old are you, where did you originally come from and where do you live now?

I am 48 years old, was born in Regensburg and now I live in Berg (Metten).

What training did you do, and where did you work before coming to SYSKRON?

After obtaining a doctorate in theoretical solid-state physics, I began my professional career as a process engineer at Infineon. In 2001 I joined the Krones Group as a simulation expert in the former SYSKRON, working as a service provider for Krones and for our shared customers in the beverage industry. Subsequently I became a product manager for filling and packing technology at Krones AG and later head of product management for Line Solutions. After about 14 years in Krones AG I moved to the current SYSKRON in July 2019.

What is your position in the company, and what are your areas of responsibility?

Today I lead the ReadyKit Core Team. My team develops the ReadyKit and its commissioning tool to enable easy system commissioning with all current and future requirements regarding interfaces to the machines and to the cloud. For the ReadyKit, we are working intensively not only on development, but also on operational provision of the edge device at our customers' facilities and for lines in the Connected Line, and on integrating the technology into Krones' processes and product landscape.

How long have you been working for SYSKRON and what attracted you in this position?

I have been working for SYSKRON since July 1st 2019 and can work and contribute to the task of digitisation for our customers and Krones. Together with the team we can shape our future in an agile way. I enjoy the way of working, the work in my team and the proactive and positive way of dealing with new tasks together. Every day we make step-by-step progress.

How would you describe a typical working day? Do you have any routines?

There isn't actually any such thing as a typical working day. Of course we have regular meetings or major tasks that occupy us each day. What is typical is that we solve the tasks facing us agilely, continue to develop ReadyKit and our platform step by step and, especially, optimise the system and tools in terms of product and operations.

What do you like best here?

I enjoy working at SYSKRON because I can focus all my energy on the task. At the same time, I have an opportunity to help shape the transformation of an industry effectively. What I like most is that my colleagues and I make effective progress towards reaching our goals day after day, step by step, through blood, sweat and tears. What I enjoy is the manner in which we go about our work, working as a team and the proactive and positive way we tackle new challenges together.

How do you spend your lunch break? Do you buy food or bring your own?

At lunchtime I enjoy taking advantage of the culinary opportunities with my colleagues in downtown Regensburg. There are many restaurants with wonderful offers and fast service.

Night Owl or Early Bird?

If the road traffic from Metten to Regensburg allows it, I like to be in the office early. Many topics can then be started and drifted in peace.

What was the most exciting project at SYSKRON?

Every day is exciting! I am most happy that together we manage to get closer to our goals step by step every day. Every improvement that we noticeably and continuously achieve makes me prouder of SYSKRON X, my team and my work.

Who is in your team, and how are the areas of responsibility divided up?

Stefanie and Fabian work in the provision of the platforms and customer installations, Sven and Sabri as developer work on the further development of the system. We have process responsibility for the provision of the systems and enable all our operations units worldwide to put our platforms into operation. Steffen, our Dedicated Owner, plans and manages the implementation of our development projects with our own resources, service providers and international partners.

And

what else?

What items – apart from your work equipment – do you always take with you to work?

I always carry snuff with me.

Your desk: Messi or Monk?

On my desk digitalisation hasn't really arrived yet. I still need the printed word and image, despite modern possibilities, to work with or on it.

What do you do after work? What's your balance?

My balance is first and foremost my family. After work I try to keep fit twice a week. Furthermore, I run the fire brigade association of my hometown as a volunteer as deputy chairman.

Why would you recommend SYSKRON as an employer?

SYSKRON X is the ideal center to live professional empathy, teamwork, change management and innovation.

What are you known for at SYSKRON?

Attention - danger of confusion! I have an identical twin brother. There have been many situations at Krones where I've been confused with my brother Michael.
